Job Description

Working closely with the CEO and Maintenance Manager, the Electronic and Controls (ECT) Technician shall diagnosis, repair, maintain, and rebuild machines. An ECT will be responsible to learn their assigned equipment and to ensure that said equipment is fully operational when the Customer (Production) needs it, an ECT will not walk away till the work is done and the machine is up and functioning. An ECT has a sense of urgency to get the factory operating at 100%, when we have downtime, it costs Chocolove $200+ a minute or $12,000 an hour. An ECT has a sense of pride in their work when taking care of a machine that can cost upwards of a million dollars, they will not take shortcuts or damage hard to replace machinery or parts, they take the time to do the job right and safely. It is the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe, productive, and efficient chocolate factory and support the culture and shared values of Chocolove. Maintain wrapping equipment, observes mechanical operation, listens and locates trouble. Develop a thorough understanding of the machine's operation Write and maintain a PM program for all PLC control driven devices Create and maintain a PLC library Review and clean up all controls wiring and idiosyncratic wiring Create and maintain an inventory of all PLC cabinet components Design and implement more effective and efficient cabinets Update older equipment to PLC driven operations that can network and display real time data Responsible for daily cleanings and inspections. Performs predictive and preventative maintenance (PM) on various mechanical equipment. Troubleshoots failing components, and can either repair or replace parts accordingly. Must annotate work with work orders and take tech notes. Must fill out inspection logs and downtime reports. Required to maintain a safe work environment and uphold proper hygiene practices. Ensures all projects are completed on time and in accordance to specifications standards Follows Safe Quality Foods (SQF) and FDA guidelines and standards Ensures compliance with industry standards and certifications as well as all local Federal and State Codes and Laws These and other duties as assigned This position has no supervisory responsibilities
WORKS CLOSELY WITH
CEO, Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Quality Control & Safety Department to maintain the factory and the equipment and to minimize production stoppage. TRAVEL Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Ability to push/pull objects that may weigh in excess of 50 lbs. Ability to bend, twist, squat, reach, kneel, stand, sit, climb, grip, lift, carry, finger dexterity, and move freely throughout the work environment. Ability to hear and understand internal and external employees and customers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes/odors or airborne particles, variations in temperatures and weather, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Works both inside and outside of the building in all weather conditions May be exposed to confined spaces and heights.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in a packaging/food/pharmacy/machinery manufacturing environment or as an automotive mechanic. The following rate range estimate is inclusive of all departments within the company and offered rates may vary within the given range between departments.
