Job Description

Calibration/Measurement Technician $30 to $40/hr - prior oil/gas experience preferred Calibration/Measurement Technician is expected to be self-motivated and ambitious. Solution oriented and accepts responsibility for actions taken. Expected to share expertise with others and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness while on the clock. Expected to work outside in all weather conditions performing calibration services for clients of Black Label Services. Expected to balance team and individual responsibilities and commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals or meet deadlines. Seeks out opportunities for growth and additional responsibilities. Ability to adapt to frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. Calibration Technician is expected to be to work on time ready and prepared for the day's work including proper attire and PPE. A positive attitude and forward thinking are also a requirement of the Calibration Technician position.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Keep accurate records of all hours logged, inventory parts used, and services performed. Efficiently follow direction from Leads, Foremen, and Supervisors. Maintain professional behavior and proper communication with internal and external contacts. Properly utilize and care for and secure all company tools, supplies, and vehicles. Comply with all corporate policies and OSHA rules while carrying out all work processes. Effectively manage time, follow directions, and complete work within a specified time. Successfully complete requested training classes and maintain all necessary safety certificates. Keep the work area clean, organized, and hazard free. Being sufficiently motivated and ambitious. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals. Company Vehicle, Clean, Maintained, Truck Inspections Performed. Without having to be asked or prodded to complete. Ability to manage time and schedule ensuring all calibrations are done before or on due dates. Documentation and paperwork complete and accurate. Communication with producers, and operators on location, letting operators know the process and which meter tubes you will be calibrating, and how you will follow procedures outlined by each customer. Keeping accurate records on which meters have been calibrated. Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Expected to work outside for extended periods of time. Long periods of standing, crouching, leaning, and stretching. Expected to work in all weather conditions unless otherwise notified by Supervisor. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS COMPETENCIES
Diagnose and repair calibration equipment to ensure proper operation and accuracy Calibrate flow measurement devices: Total Flow (static, differential, temperature), ROC, Flow Boss, Scanner 2000, and Nu Flow Troubleshoot measurement systems: XMV and MVS Isolate, inspect, and reassemble orifice plates on separators, VRUs, check meters, sales meters, and gas-lift meters Safely shut in and re-commission meter tubes using Lockout/Tagout procedures Perform gas sampling using NGC equipment Apply Beta-rounding rules to maintain meter compliance Distinguish between standard lease and BLM lease requirements Complete all service paperwork accurately and in accordance with customer expectations Leave work sites in better condition than found, ensuring all meters are returned to correct service Proactively communicate issues to operators and internal teams Take ownership of problems—do the right thing and see tasks through to resolution
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate's degree in instrumentation, engineering technology, or related field preferred Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on field calibration and measurement work in oil & gas or industrial services OSHA 10- or 30-hour safety training Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) qualification NGC gas-sampling certification Device-specific calibration credentials (e.g., Total Flow, ROC, Flow Boss) or equivalent vendor training
