Job Description

Controls Technician (PLC & Automation)
Pay:
Competitive / Dependent on Experience 1st
Shift Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join our client's maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining various automated control systems and electrical components to ensure maximum production efficiency and minimal downtime.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and Repair:
Diagnose issues with PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, motors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
System Maintenance:
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on automated machinery and robotic cells.
Programming Support:
Modify and monitor PLC programs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron) and HMI interfaces to optimize performance.
Electrical Work:
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to perform wiring and hardware upgrades.
Collaboration:
Work alongside the maintenance and engineering teams to implement system improvements and capital projects.
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
2+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or electrical maintenance.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC hardware and software (RSLogix/Studio 5000 preferred).
Electrical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of 480V 3-phase power, DC control circuits, and National Electrical Code (NEC).
Tool Proficiency:
Experience using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and PC-based diagnostic tools.
Education:
High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent certification is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in an industrial environment, including standing, bending, and climbing for extended periods.
