Job Description

The Dogwood Energy Facility, located near Pleasant Hill in Cass County, Missouri, approximately 35 miles southeast of Kansas City, operates within the northern SPP reliability council region. The plant operates a 2x1 configuration featuring Siemens Westinghouse 501F gas turbines, Toshiba HRSGs, and a Toshiba steam turbine. The facility maintains a strong reliability culture and a collaborative maintenance team environment. Opportunity Summary The Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) Technician at the Dogwood Energy Facility is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment to ensure safe and reliable power generation. This role includes inspection, testing, calibration, installation, and repair of electronic and electrical systems across the facility. The IC&E Technician also supports NERC compliance and environmental programs by completing required training and assisting with inspections and documentation. Your scope of responsibility as IC&E Technician will include the following primary functions: Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on plant instrumentation, control systems, electrical equipment, and critical backup systems. Inspect, repair, and install various electrical components, including motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signals, communication systems, protective relaying devices, and storage batteries. Work with electrical systems ranging from 12VAC to 4160VAC, as well as DC systems up to 125VDC. Troubleshoot, calibrate, and recommission control valves and instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, and level devices. Diagnose and resolve issues with DCS, PLC, and turbine control systems. Perform electrical isolations in accordance with industry standards and safety procedures and assist in training others in electrical safety programs. Participate in call-out response for plant emergencies and forced outages as needed. Support cross-functional maintenance activities during outages and critical plant needs. Support the Dogwood Energy NERC Compliance Program, including the annual completion of required NERC standards training. Assist in hazardous waste management, including completing hazardous waste awareness training and conducting documented inspections of waste accumulation areas. Maintain accurate equipment files, logs, and drawings for designated equipment. Support spare parts inventory and material control activities, including assisting with physical inventory counts, to maintain plant reliability. Maintain and update technical manuals, drawings, and preventive maintenance documentation. Perform other related duties as assigned. Working Relationships The IC&E Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and receives general direction from plant management. This role also involves working with the utility on matters related to daily plant operations. Additionally, the IC&E Technician coordinates with contractors and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) personnel to ensure proper support and collaboration. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions. Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility. Fitness for Duty All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening. Work Schedule The IC&E Technician works a standard Monday to Friday day shift schedule, ensuring consistent plant operation and support during regular business hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. This position may occasionally require availability for call-ins. Compensation This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $43 to $54 per hour, along with an annual performance bonus and overtime opportunities. Core Qualifications We are seeking a qualified Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) Technician with hands-on experience in power generation operations and maintenance. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to contribute effectively to a team supporting reliable plant performance. Required Experience and Skills Extensive hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment in power generation, industrial, or military facilities, with responsibility for complex system repairs and reliability support. Proficiency in inspecting, repairing, and installing electrical components, including motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, and protective relaying devices, with experience working on systems ranging from 12VAC to 4,160VAC and DC systems up to 125VDC. Experience diagnosing and resolving issues with DCS, PLC, and turbine control systems. Knowledge of NERC compliance requirements and completion of required annual NERC training. Ability to work independently or collaboratively to troubleshoot complex I&C issues. Competence using hand and power tools, interpreting schematics, and maintaining accurate technical documentation. Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills. Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times. Preferred Education and training An Associate degree in Plant Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Process Technology, or a related field is preferred.
