Job Description

Controls TechnicianPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to install, commission, and support industrial control systems. The role focuses on PLC-based systems and requires hands-on abilities to install hardware, troubleshoot faults, and ensure reliable operation of automation equipment. The Controls Technician will work with engineering and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve system performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, wire, and commission PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and related control equipment according to design drawings and specifications.

Program, configure, and tune PLC and HMI systems; implement control logic and make field adjustments during startup.

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system failures using schematics, diagnostic tools, and software; perform repairs and replace components as needed.

Perform preventive maintenance and testing on control panels, field devices, and instrumentation to ensure reliability and safety.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and bill of materials; update as-built documentation and maintain clear service records.

Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and production staff to plan installations, modifications, and system upgrades with minimal production impact.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies during all service activities.

Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel on system use, best practices, and troubleshooting steps.

QualificationsAssociate degree or technical diploma in electrical, electronics, mechatronics, or a related field; equivalent industrial experience considered.2+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or maintenance roles with hands-on PLC work.

Basic PLC/HMI experience (Allen Bradley preferred)Demonstrated experience installing and commissioning control systems, including wiring panels and field devices.

Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, control, and instrumentation issues; comfortable using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic software.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.

Familiarity VFDs, servo systems, and distributed I/OExperience with sensors, safety circuits, and field devices
