Job Description
About the Role As a Building Automation Controls Technician, you will serve as a technical expert responsible for the startup, commissioning, and optimization of complex HVAC and building automation systems (BAS). You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that building environments operate at peak efficiency while delivering high-quality service and technical support to our diverse client base. Responsibilities Lead on-site commissioning activities, including pre-power inspections, controller configuration, and network validation for BAS projects. Interpret complex control prints, specifications, and project documentation to ensure seamless system integration. Execute functional testing of hardware and software sequences to verify system performance across all operational modes. Manage project documentation, including punch-lists, as-built drawings, and field service reports, to maintain accurate project records. Provide expert troubleshooting, warranty support, and system upgrades to resolve technical challenges and enhance system reliability. Deliver professional training to end-users, ensuring they are comfortable operating and monitoring their building systems. Coordinate with project stakeholders and trade partners to ensure equipment readiness and adherence to project timelines. Maintain current backups of customer programming and graphics to ensure system integrity and rapid recovery. Required Skills 5+ years of experience in the startup, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC and building controls systems. Proficiency with vendor-specific programming tools, laptop diagnostics, and BAS software. Strong understanding of HMI and M2M interfaces within building automation environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass background and drug screenings. Physical capability to work at heights and lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Skills HVAC Journeyman Certification. EPA Refrigeration License. Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and documentation. Proven track record of managing multiple job sites simultaneously.
