Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Technician to join our manufacturing operations team. This role involves designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated control systems that enhance production efficiency and ensure compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in robotics, programmable logic controllers, and mechanical systems, contributing to the seamless integration of automation solutions within a lean manufacturing environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced automation technologies, including Fanuc robotics and vision inspection systems, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence. Duties Install, calibrate, and maintain automation control systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and robotics such as Fanuc and other industrial robots. Program, test, and optimize robot operations and automated machinery to improve manufacturing processes. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks to support system installation and troubleshooting. Conduct root cause analysis on automation failures or performance issues to identify effective corrective actions. Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to develop tooling, fixtures, and machining processes aligned with automation needs. Perform routine inspections of vision inspection systems and other automated quality control devices to ensure proper operation. Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing automation upgrades. Maintain detailed documentation of control system configurations, modifications, and maintenance activities. Assist in training operators on the proper use of automated equipment while emphasizing safety protocols. Requirements Proven experience working with Fanuc robotics, robot programming, and automation controls within a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with proficiency in schematics reading, blueprint interpretation, and tooling design. Hands-on experience with PLC programming, distributed control systems (DCS), and vision inspection systems. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards in regulated industries. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD software for designing or modifying mechanical components. Ability to perform root cause analysis effectively to troubleshoot complex automation issues. Knowledge of machining processes, tooling development, and metrology techniques. Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration across engineering, production, and quality teams.
