Controls System Technician Location Clinton, SC Job Type Full-Time Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Compensation Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications. About Southeast Control Systems Southeast Control Systems is a specialized provider of industrial automation and control solutions serving manufacturing and process facilities throughout the Southeast. We design, install, commission, and support industrial control systems that improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and productivity. We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and hands-on Controls Systems Technician to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work with PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, control panels, and industrial automation equipment in both shop and field environments. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting technical problems, working directly with customers, and supporting automation systems that keep industrial facilities running efficiently. Position Summary The Controls Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and support of industrial automation and control systems. This position works closely with Controls Engineers, Electricians, and customer maintenance personnel to ensure equipment operates safely and reliably. The successful candidate will assist with system startup, commissioning, field service, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems and related equipment. Essential Responsibilities Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial control systems. Support PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and electrical control system installations. Perform preventive maintenance on automation and control equipment. Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and control system issues. Troubleshoot sensors, transmitters, control valves, motors, VFDs, and related field devices. Assist with startup and commissioning of new equipment and automation systems. Perform I/O checks, functional testing, and system verification. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Document troubleshooting activities, repairs, modifications, and maintenance work performed. Assist Controls Engineers with system modifications, upgrades, and improvements. Support customer maintenance and production teams in minimizing downtime. Maintain compliance with all safety requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices. Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members regarding project status and equipment issues. Travel to customer facilities as required to support service calls, installations, and startup activities. Qualifications Associate Degree, Technical Diploma, or equivalent experience in Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Electronics, Automation Technology, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred. Experience troubleshooting industrial control systems and electrical equipment. Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, and automation equipment. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems and HMI interfaces. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to analyze technical problems and develop practical solutions. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC systems. Experience with Siemens PLC systems. Familiarity with FactoryTalk View or similar HMI software. Experience with industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, DeviceNet, or Profibus. Knowledge of VFDs, servo systems, and motion control applications. Experience commissioning industrial automation equipment. Understanding of industrial networking and basic computer systems. Forklift certification or experience. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, and materials. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders and access industrial equipment. Ability to work in manufacturing and industrial environments. Steel-toe boots or safety footwear required. Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends when required. Ability to travel to customer facilities, including occasional overnight travel.
