We are looking for a skilled Industrial Controls Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be the primary technical expert responsible for the "brains" of our manufacturing floor. From high-speed roll-formers and plasma cutters to robotic welding lines, you will ensure our equipment stays online to produce high-quality pre-fabricated metal buildings.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshoot & Repair:
Diagnose and fix complex electrical and control system failures on roll-forming lines, overhead cranes, and CNC metal processing equipment.PLC/HMI Support:
Perform online troubleshooting and minor programming edits on PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) to optimize machine performance.Preventative Maintenance:
Execute scheduled inspections on VFDs, servo motors, sensors, and safety circuits to prevent unplanned downtime.System Integration:
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new automated machinery or modifications to existing machines.Schematic Mastery:
Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical blueprints to track down root causes of mechanical failures.QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
3+ years of experience as a Controls or Automation Technician in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment (metal fabrication or steel industry experience is a major plus).Technical Skills:
Proficiency with PLCs (troubleshooting logic, not just monitoring). Strong knowledge of 480V 3-phase power, DC circuits, and control wiring. Experience with VFDs, encoders, and proximity sensors.Education:
Associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, or equivalent technical certification/military training.Soft Skills:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Comfort working at heights (overhead cranes) or in confined spaces around large machinery. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time. Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs regularly and up to 75lbs occasionally with assistance. Frequent use of hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and welding equipment and machines. Ability to kneel, crouch, climb, or work in awkward positions to complete work. Use of ladders or lifts. Exposure to welding fumes, bright light (arc flash), heat, sparks, and airborne particles. Everyday use of PPE. Climate conditions vary in production areas from hot in the summer to cold in the winter.
