Worth areas. As an experienced and confident Controls Technician, you will be responsible for installing, programming, testing, calibrating, operating, servicing, and repairing control systems along with their related software, hardware, and equipment. When controls exceed or fall below specifications, they must quickly troubleshoot the problem to avoid or minimize interruptions to production. They are also responsible for performing a variety of technical duties relating to the electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and control functions of the Companys utility systems. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to perform general knowledge of digital control concepts such as analog and digital inputs and outputs, sequences of operations, point addressable devices, closed-loop, and supervisory feedback systems, BACnet integration BACnet systems, BACnet networks, device programming, serial communications, and computer networking. Installs, programs, inspects, troubleshoots, and adjusts electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and related information systems. Requires general skill in analyzing control system malfunctions and determining appropriate repairs. This includes troubleshooting system controller boards, field devices, sensor wiring, control wiring, general input and output wiring, and network/communications wiring. Performs tests and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment; interprets readings and outputs of equipment; ensures proper functioning of equipment and related information systems. Requires skill in the use of technicians' tools such as electric meters, calibration devices, electronic testers, etc. Reviews operators manuals and other established guidelines; ensures equipment and information systems are operated by established guidelines. Performs basic programming for Control systems; programs with ladder logic and relay logic; operates PLCs, RTUs, and associated inputs/outputs; operates VFDs; performs telecommunications networking. Initiates work orders pertaining to utility equipment and information systems; ensures work orders are accurate and complete; performs record-keeping functions. Reading and interpreting design, control, and electrical drawings. Estimating materials, parts, and equipment to complete assignments. Reading and interpreting manuals, specifications, drawings, and blueprints. Reading and interpreting meters, gauges, charts, and a variety of instruments. Identifying and resolving operational, technical, and procedural problems. Work with voltages ranging from 12 VAC to 600 VAC. Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to control and monitoring systems and perform needed repairs. Tests and calibrates system devices to ensure functional reliability of operating/monitoring system. Inspects, troubleshoots and performs corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment such as air handlers, compressors, vacuum pumps, and exhaust fans by changing belts, lubricating parts, & replacing motors, valves, sheaves, motor bearings, etc. Work is subject to exposure to extreme weather conditions, sewage, hazardous chemicals, electrical currents, gasses, dust, noxious odors, and heights exceeding 10 feet. Install and maintain motor control systems for fans, pumps, compressors, etc. Performs and/or assists with work on all HVAC and control systems and related equipment as necessary. Be on call, as necessary. Federal, state, and local requirements about HVAC utility systems. Record-keeping practices, both electronic and hard copy. Performs other miscellaneous duties as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must have experience in Andover Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Strong decision-making ability. Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.
Essential Functions:
Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc. Be able to spend time standing and walking on construction sites. Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per company vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle. Be physically able to kneel, stoop, and crawl.
