Responsibilities The technician is responsible for performing all work in accordance with company quality standards, safety procedures, customer requirements, and OEM specifications. Job Duties Valve Rework Receive and identify valve assemblies by customer, unit, and work order. Disassemble valve assemblies using approved procedures. Clean all valve components. Inspect valve plates, seats, guards, springs, buttons, and retainers for wear, corrosion, erosion, cracking, distortion, and other damage. Measure critical dimensions and compare to OEM tolerances. Replace worn or damaged components as required. Reassemble valves using proper torque specifications and verify correct valve lift and operation. Packing Case Rework Disassemble packing cases and thoroughly clean all components. Inspect case bores, glands, lantern rings, bushings, and hardware for wear, scoring, corrosion, cracks, and distortion. Measure critical dimensions and verify compliance with OEM specifications. Repair or replace components as required. Reassemble packing cases using approved procedures. Packing and Wiper Installation Inspect all packing rings, rider rings (where applicable), wiper rings, O-rings, seals, springs, and associated hardware. Replace all worn, damaged, or customer-approved components. Install packing and wiper assemblies in the correct orientation and sequence according to OEM specifications. Verify proper clearances, alignment, and assembly before final installation. Final Inspection Perform a complete quality inspection of all assembled components. Ensure all fasteners are properly torqued and secured. Verify cleanliness and freedom from debris or contamination. Record inspection findings, measurements, replaced components, and any recommendations. Tag and prepare completed assemblies for shipment or installation. Quality Expectations All valves, packing cases, packing assemblies, and wipers shall: Meet OEM specifications and tolerances. Be free of contamination, excessive wear, or damage. Be correctly assembled and inspected. Include complete inspection documentation and traceability. Required Skills Knowledge of reciprocating compressor components. Ability to read OEM drawings and manuals. Experience using precision measuring instruments. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to identify wear patterns and determine serviceability. Equipment Used Torque wrenches Micrometers Dial indicators Calipers Bore gauges Parts washer Cleaning equipment Hand and pneumatic tools Precision inspection equipment Safety Requirements Wear required PPE at all times. Follow lockout/tagout procedures when applicable. Use proper lifting techniques and lifting devices for heavy components. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment immediately. Performance Standard All valve, packing case, packing, and wiper rework shall be completed safely, accurately, and efficiently while meeting OEM specifications, company quality standards, and customer requirements. Complete documentation and traceability shall accompany every completed assembly.
