division is currently seeking a Controls Tech - 3rd Shift. The hourly rate for this position is $33.45 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. ## What you'll do: Job Summary Test, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical and electronic machinery and/or systems. Job Responsibilities- Ensures compliance with all safety and housekeeping practices & company policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoots and repairs machine and equipment failures with necessary hand tools, portable power tools, and soldering irons.
- Assist, trains, and mentors other production and maintenance personnel as needed.
- Reads and can modify if required schematic diagrams, job orders, and written procedures to determine required parts or procedures to follow for repair.
- Uses test equipment such as oscilloscope, signal generators, power supplies and multimeters to check electrical requirements.
- Tests and calibrates units according to the specifications and replaces defective components if necessary.
- Maintains test equipment.
- Develop schematic diagrams of electrical systems.
- Support projects to install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot automated equipment
- Diagnose and resolve electrical/controls problems including non-routine issues
- Use Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) including basic and ladder logic to read/write basic wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to diagnosis problems
- Troubleshoot and repair of low voltage electrical systems (600VAC and below)
- Oversee and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols to guarantee the safe deactivation and isolation of equipment, ensuring energy control procedures are correctly applied to prevent inadvertent machine startup or hazardous energy discharge during repair or maintenance, in line with OSHA regulations and organizational safety guidelines.
- Safely operates overhead cranes and hoisting equipment to move materials, components, and finished products within the manufacturing facility.
- Actively participates in problem-solving processes, contributing to efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Adhere to safety protocols, ensures efficient material handling, housekeeping practices (5S+), and company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education level- Equivalent to completion of an accredited, indentured apprenticeship or equivalent to basic high school education required. Years and area of experience required
- 2 years of electrical and controls system fabrication, assembly, and installation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Required:
Understanding and working knowledge with the following:- PLC based control products (PLC5, PLC 500, RSLOGIX 5000/Studio)
- VFD and DC Motor Controllers
- NFPA 70 Electrical Code and installation of conduit, wiring, etc.
- Electrical safety (Arc Flash PPE and Hazardous Locations requirements)
- Electrical schematics / drawings and P&ID diagrams
- Knowledge in low, medium, and high voltage troubleshooting and repair
- Knowledge with using voltmeters, ohmmeters (both analog and digital), ammeters, phase rotation meter, meggers, oscilloscopes, watt meters, loop calibrators, portable non-contact thermometers ##
Skills:
Preferred Qualifications Physical Requirements- Lift up to 40 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, grabbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and using both hands to lift and lower materials, with or without accommodations. Environmental Factors
- Adhere to proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor (safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, FR shirts, and otthers based on the department you are in).
- Work efficiently in hot environments and tolerate loud noises. Education level
- 2 year technical school certificate of completion of training in the trade preferred." Soft skills
