Job Description

Controls BAS TechnicianPosition Overview We are seeking a skilled Controls BAS (Building Automation Systems) Technician to install, program, commission, and maintain building automation and HVAC control systems. The ideal candidate will ensure reliable, energy-efficient operation of mechanical systems by troubleshooting controllers, sensors, and networked BAS equipment, with a strong focus on Schneider EcoStruxure and related automation platforms.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and commission building automation system hardware and software, including field devices, controllers, sensors, and network components.

Program and modify control sequences and logic for HVAC and related systems using BAS programming tools; implement energy-saving strategies.

Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of BAS components to identify and resolve faults quickly and accurately.

Execute start-up procedures, functional testing, and performance verification for new and retrofit projects; document results and recommend adjustments.

Integrate and maintain BACnet, Modbus, and other common building automation communication protocols; ensure network reliability and security.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and facility staff to develop control strategies, scopes of work, and project schedules.

Provide clear documentation, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, as-built drawings, and change logs for all control work.

Train facility personnel and end users on system operation, alarm response, and preventive maintenance practices.

Respond to service calls and perform on-site troubleshooting; maintain timely communication with customers and project stakeholders.

Support continuous improvement by recommending system enhancements, upgrades, and energy optimization measures.

QualificationsAssociate degree in electrical, mechanical, controls technology, or related field, or equivalent technical experience.3+ years of hands-on experience with building automation systems and HVAC controls in commercial or industrial facilities.

Proven experience with Schneider Electric platforms, especially EcoStruxure, and familiarity with Schneider controllers and tools.

Solid understanding of BAS protocols (BACnet, Modbus) and networking fundamentals.

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with experience reading electrical schematics, control drawings, and ladder/logic diagrams.

Experience programming control sequences and working with automation control software and
SCADA/BMS
interfaces.

Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites; ability to work in mechanical rooms and at heights when required.

Excellent communication skills, customer-focused attitude, and ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Relevant certifications a plus: Certified Controls Technician, CEM, EPA 608, or manufacturer-specific Schneider certifications.
