Full Job Description Overview:
We are currently seeking a dynamic and passionate Ceramics/Pottery Instructor to join our team. You must enjoy working with children. This position involves teaching pottery to students ages 6-10, helping them build foundational skills in clay work and creative expression. Classes are held onsite at our school on weekdays and Saturdays, and availability on Saturdays is required.
Responsibilities:
Lead fun, engaging pottery sessions for young children in a supportive, hands-on environment. Teach foundational pottery techniques such as hand-building, basic slab work, and simple glazing methods appropriate for ages 6-10. Host onsite classes at our school on weekdays and Saturdays. Guide students through the creative process from idea to finished piece, keeping instructions clear and age-appropriate. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pottery studio. Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and staff. Demonstrate patience, encouragement, and flexibility when working with young learners. Use demonstrations and simple examples to help students understand techniques and stay engaged.
Requirements:
Experience working with young children (ages 6-10) in a classroom, camp, or similar setting. Basic to intermediate pottery skills, including hand-building and glazing (wheel experience is a plus but not required). Knowledge of kiln operation and firing processes, or willingness to learn.
