Job Description
About Any Day Now Some restaurants are just places to eat. Any Day Now is meant to be more than that — a space for the morning regulars, the working lunch crowd, the spontaneous dinner, and everyone in between. We're an all-day dining concept rooted in the idea that every part of the day deserves good coffee, great food, genuine hospitality, and a room that feels like yours. We're part of Tim Ma Hospitality, a DC-based restaurant group with deep community roots and national recognition. We're not a corporation — we're a team building restaurants we're proud of, and we want our managers to grow with us. The Role The Pastry Cook is the 'Artist of the Finish.' You are responsible for the delicate components and final plating of our dessert programs. While the Baker builds the foundation, you create the complexity—working with chocolates, fruit, and temperature-sensitive sauces. You bridge the gap between the kitchen's heat and the dining room's elegance.
What You'll Own Plated Desserts:
Execute the assembly and plating of desserts during service, ensuring every plate is a visual and textural masterpiece.Component Prep:
Prepare delicate elements including mousses, tuiles, ice creams, and reductions; mastering the technical balance of flavors.Chocolate & Sugar Work:
Handle temperature-sensitive tasks like tempering chocolate or cooking sugars for garnishes and custards.Collaboration:
Work closely with the BOH line during service to ensure dessert ticket times align with the savory courses.Station Organization:
Maintain an impeccably clean and sanitized station; pastry requires a high level of organization to prevent cross-contamination. Who You Are 1+ year of experience in a professional pastry kitchen or high-end plated dessert station. An eye for detail and a steady hand for intricate plating and garnishing. Calm under the pressure of a dinner rush; you can pivot quickly when tickets stack up. A curious cook who wants to learn the 'why' behind pastry chemistry. What We Offer Competitive hourly rate. Health benefits. Exposure to refined pastry techniques and seasonal menu development. Dining privileges across all Tim Ma Hospitality locations.Similar jobs in Washington, DC
