Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time Sewing Instructor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sewing and related crafts, along with the ability to teach and inspire students of various ages. This role involves implementing pre-made engaging curricula, managing classroom activities, and fostering a positive learning environment for children and adults alike. The Sewing Instructor will play a vital role in nurturing creativity, technical skills, and confidence among students through hands-on instruction. Duties Implement comprehensive sewing curricula tailored to different age groups (kids and adults) and skill levels. Teach sewing techniques, safety procedures, and project-based lessons to students. Manage classroom environments of 6-12 students to ensure safety, engagement, and effective learning experiences. Assist students with project planning, troubleshooting, and skill development through personalized guidance. Foster positive behavior management strategies to support a respectful and inclusive classroom atmosphere. Adapt teaching methods for children with special needs as needed. Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage growth and mastery of sewing skills. Ability to work summer camp hours in June and July from 10am-2pm or Ability to work evenings Mondays 6-9pm, Fridays 6-9pm, Saturday 10-2pm and Sunday 4-6pm. Skills Strong knowledge of sewing techniques, tools, and safety practices. Prior experience in teaching sewing or related crafts, with classroom management skills is a plus. Experience working with children ages 5+ or Adults. Skills in individualized instruction to support student learning goals. Additional skills such as photography, fashion design, crochet, knitting, quilting, embroidery are considered a plus for future classes. Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage learners of all ages. Positive Attitude, Flexibility, Patient and Consistent Work Ethic. Ability to adapt instruction for students with special needs.
