Ceramics Studio Technician (Part-Time, ~16 Hours/Week) MBACC in Dedham, MA is seeking a Ceramics Studio Technician to support the day-to-day operations of a busy studio. This role is approximately 16 hours per week, with set shifts on Sundays 10am-2pm, Mondays (~4 hours day-time) and Wednesdays (~4 hoursday-time), plus additional flexible hours scheduled based on weekly studio needs. The technician plays a key role in keeping the studio running smoothly, cleanly, and efficiently for all members and programming, working closely with the Ceramics Program Director.Responsibilities include:
Clay processing, including reclaiming and pugging Kiln operations, including loading, unloading, and kiln shelf maintenance Glaze management, including mixing, inventory tracking, testing, and troubleshooting Facility upkeep, including daily and deep cleaning, sink trap maintenance, and clay waste management Cleaning and routine care of kilns and work areas Basic equipment maintenance for pottery wheels and kilns (training provided) Light administrative tasks such as labeling, signage creation, and basic emailmunication Assisting with annual events such as Open Studios and the Pottery Sale Other duties as assigned This is an hourly, non-benefited position that includes a ceramic studio artist member shelf ($2,106 annual value) for technicians interested in working on their ceramics outside of their duties.Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is dependable,anized, andfortable working in a hands-on studio environment. They have technical experience in a pottery or ceramics studio and are able to work to a high standard of efficiency, precision, and cleanliness. Excellent customer service experience is also important, as this role supports a d studio environment and may involve interacting with members and assisting with their needs. Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, as well as cleaning and standing for extended periods.
