Store Manager Position Summary :
The Bench Goldsmith is a jeweler with at least 5 years' experience in jewelry production and servicing. The Bench Goldsmith is responsible for providing high quality repairs and alterations for a wide variety of merchandise, as well as producing new or re-engineered pieces for Gunderson's discerning clientele. The Bench Goldsmith will be skilled with all metals and all gemstone types and cuts, as well as all setting types. The Bench Goldsmith may also train and mentor Apprentice Goldsmiths in jewelry repair, as requested by the Store Manager.
Essential Functions:
Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work practices Service jewelry in accordance with Gunderson's Jewelers quality standards and timeframes Create and/or repair precious jewelry using silver, gold and platinum, with or without stones Set and inspect gemstones using all appropriate setting techniques Review repair requests to ensure repair needs and prices are appropriately determined. Review discrepancies with appropriate staff so customers can be notified of changes Work directly with customers as needed on repairs, re-engineered or new pieces Follow appropriate repair procedures to ensure proper handling and follow-through with customers' property Ensure that gold stock, findings, and loose stones are properly maintained and accounted for by accurately completing paperwork and properly storing materials Properly spend supply dollars by maintaining adequate inventory levels Follow Gunderson's asset recovery procedures to maximize financial return of precious metal recoveries (hard scrap, filings, sweeps, vacuum bags, etc.)
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required Certificate from accredited jewelers school strongly desired Minimum 5 years jewelers experience in precious metals jewelry (silver, gold, platinum) required Minimum 5 years' experience in stone setting techniques in precious metals jewelry required Demonstrated skills in polishing precious metals required Advanced knowledge of jeweler's tools, machinery and equipment required. Proficiency in laser welder strongly desired Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with customers and co-workers required Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes required Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment required Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook/email desired Strong organizational and follow-through skills required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required Strong problem solving skills required High level of ownership, accountability and initiative in solving customer requests required High level of confidentiality required
Supervision of Others:
No supervisory responsibilities May be asked to train or mentor Apprentice Goldsmiths in appropriate jewelry repair and alteration techniques
Effort:
Daily lifting of up to 20 pounds required, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds desired Ability to bend/stoop, squat, twist, reach, kneel and balance required Ability to concentrate on and accomplish a task or work despite distractions and interruptions required Ability to handle multiple tasks required Ability to work under time pressures created by due dates and deadlines required Ability to work with great precision with tiny objects required
Consequence of Error:
Errors in completion of position duties can result in customer dissatisfaction, which can directly or indirectly affect the entire company
Working Conditions:
This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week. Flexible hours and overtime are required during holidays, inventory, and special events The activities listed above are those anticipated as being necessary for performance of the duties of this position. Other non-essential functions may be assigned at the discretion of management.
