Job Description

Possibly the Coolest Junior Maker/Production Job Ever Tappan, NY 10983 $45,000
  • $50,000 a year
  • Full-time $45,000
  • $50,000 a year
  • Full-time We are small company that makes education and outreach materials located in Tappan, NY named The Education & Outreach Company.
We are biased, but we are pretty sure the company is a wonderful place to work. We make coloring books and playing cards and other fun things. And we're adding something new: we're launching divisions where we'll be 3-D printing models and hand painting them. So part of your job will literally be making cool little models. We have a unique role that requires a creative, hands-on person who likes to make things and pitch in wherever they're needed. Some basics about why the job is unique and great: 1. We are launching new divisions built around 3-D printed models that we then hand paint. You would be the person running our 3-D printers and doing the hand painting that brings those models to life. It's creative, detailed, satisfying work and you'll learn a real craft on the job. No prior experience with 3-D printing is required; we'll teach you. 2. We need this same person to pitch in with general warehouse work, packing up orders, moving boxes, occasionally running our pad printer, and helping keep things moving day to day. Why are the two combined? Because in a small shop, the people who make the things also help get them out the door. We want someone who can jump into the whole process. 3. You will have input in the operations of the company and make decisions on things that no big stuffy company would ever allow you to do. The senior members of our team all started in this job and were promoted to larger roles in the company. We want the person we hire to learn in this role and grow into new ones. 4. We understand that people have lives outside the office. We work hard to put in place processes that allow us to get our jobs done without our lives being taken over by the job. No one who works here misses a school concert, graduation or other life event because of their job. 5. We aren't big on stress. We will expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication and getting things done right the first go around. Now, let's talk about the job requirements: 1. You need to be the type person who gets joy out of getting things done. 2. You need to nail down the details. You don't need to race through work and get things done. We need you to slow things down and get them done right. 3. We want you to be meticulous in your work. 4. Our company isn't that formal, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality. If we hire you, its because we trust you to be in charge of your own responsibilities. 5. We expect intelligence, energy, and a get it done attitude. When you have questions, you will find our team is happy to help find the answers. 6. You should be creative, artistic, curious, and good with your hands. A steady hand for painting and an eye for detail go a long way. You don't need experience with 3-D printers or pad printers, if you're smart and eager to learn, we'll teach you everything. Finally, exactly what you would be doing: 1. Running our 3-D printers: setting up prints, monitoring them, and cleaning up the finished models. 2. Hand painting the printed models with care and consistency. 3. Occasionally operating our pad printer. 4. Packing up and shipping orders. 5. Moving boxes and helping keep the warehouse organized. 6. Pitching in on other general warehouse and production tasks as they come up. Please don't call, text, linkedin, Instagram or show up in person unannounced (one person surprised our staff by showing up in a tuxedo…don't do that). We are a small company and don't have the bandwidth to handle communications outside our hiring platform. We will not consider applications that reach out outside Indeed.
