EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in libraries and maker spaces.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans, promotes, and presents innovative programs for the Maker Lab workspaces and/or at off-site visits; Shares maker information, activities, and programs through community outreach Responsible for maintaining an attractive and engaging environment in the Maker Lab workspaces through high quality patron interactions, dynamic displays, and more Provides training for all equipment and troubleshoots technology as needed Responsible for Maker Lab, classroom, and workspace closing procedures when scheduled for night and weekend closings Participates in department meetings, attends regular training related to library and Maker Space work Remains aware of safety and security issues and takes appropriate action as needed
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Bachelor's Degree preferredor equivalent combination of education and experiencein libraries and maker spaces Knowledge and proven experience with a variety of maker activities and/or technology, including (but not limited to) 3d printing (slicing and rendering), archival digitization, laser cutting/etching (e.g.
Glowforge,XTool), sewing, embroidery, desktop cutting (e.g. Cricut, Silhouette), digital design (e.g. Adobe, Canva), handicrafts, and/or weaving Comfort with learning,utilizing, and teaching others the activities and technologies Comfort interacting with a wide range of patrons of all ages and abilities Proficient with technology and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and software Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability toestablishdeadlines,monitorprogress, and work well with a team Strong interpersonal and customer service skills SCPL uses multi-factor authentication for network and program access. Employees may be required to use their personal device for MFA.
