ASSIGNMENT LENGTH
Up to 11 months, with the potential to go Direct Hire.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mechanical Assembler (Sandblaster) is responsible for abrasive blasting involved in the fabrication of parts/materials used to manufacture pump stations. The Sandblaster maintains all abrasive blasting equipment and conducts periodic preventative maintenance. Assists with process improvements in the pump station and other system manufacturing processes. Works to a timeline on multiple projects / orders simultaneously.
More specific responsibilities may include:
Operate and maintain abrasive blasting equipment. Load and unload parts/materials using appropriate equipment (e.g., pallet jack). Conduct preventative maintenance to maintain sandblasting equipment, including compressors, filters, high pressure hoses, nozzles, and pressure gauges. Inspect work site to ensure safety prior to and after blasting operations. Preparing surfaces of parts/materials in preparation for abrasive blasting/welding. Cleaning tools and equipment to prevent clogging or other equipment problems. Cleaning work areas before and after blasting projects to remove debris and dust. Maintaining quality by inspecting finished surfaces for quality and defects. Maintain the necessary supplies to support blasting activities. Manage multiple assignments/projects simultaneously and in a timely manner. Work and communicate with other Production personnel on a daily basis to schedule work and resolve issues. Assist in developing manufacturing procedures and productivity reports as defined by the Production Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Willingness to perform hands-on abrasive blasting activities in confined spaces. Willingness to wear appropriate PPE including Type CE respiratory protection. Proficiency in the use of hand tools and measurement equipment, including calipers, tape measures, levels, compound squares, digital multimeter, torque wrenches. Fabrication/Engineering Drawing reading and interpretation. Strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer literacy with working knowledge of Windows, Excel and Word. Ability to multi-task and think "Outside The Box". High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
