Job Title:
Electrical Test Technician Job Description The Electrical Test Technician works in a clean room and laboratory environment to support the development, assembly, testing, and maintenance of advanced electro‑optical systems used in imaging, sensing, and defense applications. This role focuses on testing electrical circuits and mechanical systems, performing optical alignment and precision assembly, and troubleshooting complex opto‑electronic hardware. The technician collaborates closely with engineers to ensure all systems meet stringent performance, reliability, and quality standards, with the potential for contract extension or transition to a full‑time role based on performance and business needs. Responsibilities Perform hands‑on testing of electrical circuits and mechanical systems in a clean room and lab setting. Test payloads in support of ramping production and ensure they meet defined performance and quality requirements. Support the development, assembly, testing, and maintenance of advanced electro‑optical and opto‑electronic systems. Assist with optical alignment and precision assembly of complex electro‑optical hardware. Conduct component‑level diagnostics on analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits to identify and resolve issues. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems using established techniques and test equipment. Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, including documents provided in PDF format. Use common hand tools and electronic test equipment to assemble, test, and repair hardware. Document test results, issues found, and corrective actions in a clear and organized manner. Collaborate closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure systems meet reliability and quality standards. Follow established procedures, quality standards, and clean room protocols during all lab and production activities. Support a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment and adapt to new projects and changing priorities as they arise. Provide occasional weekend support when needed to meet project and production demands. Essential Skills Approximately 2+ years of work experience involving electrical circuits, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting techniques in a product‑based environment. Basic understanding of electrical circuits and mechanical systems and how they interact in a system‑level context. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, including those provided as PDF files. Experience performing troubleshooting and component‑level diagnostics on analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits. Hands‑on skills in electrical testing, hardware assembly, and general electronics work. Familiarity with common hand tools and electronic test equipment used for measurement, diagnostics, and verification. General computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Office applications, setting up user logins, and using email tools such as Outlook or similar platforms. Ability to work effectively as a junior‑level electrical or electronics technician in an optical and electro‑optical environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures and clean room protocols. Effective communication skills to work closely with engineers and team members in a collaborative environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Internship, coursework, or previous work experience in aerospace, robotics, automotive, or manufacturing environments. Industry certifications such as J‑STD‑001, IPC‑A‑610, andIPC/WHMA
‑A‑620. Experience with soldering, crimping, and cable harness assembly. Exposure to CAD models or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO and AS9100. Broad technical experience that spans multiple disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and optics. General physics or optics experience that supports understanding of electro‑optical systems. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, rapidly growing business unit while contributing to a close‑knit, collaborative team. Motivation to work on cutting‑edge technology with real impact on national security and mission‑driven applications. Desire and ability to learn quickly and grow as new projects and priorities arise. Work Environment The role is based in a laboratory and clean room environment within a fast‑growing business unit of roughly 100 people at the local site, with a team of about 20 people and a small group focused on lab work. The Engineering department oversees this position, providing close interaction with experienced engineers and highly motivated, mission‑driven colleagues. Work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional opportunities for weekend work depending on project and production needs. The clean room setting requires wearing appropriate clean room garments and following strict cleanliness and handling procedures. The workplace offers a fully stocked kitchen and a close‑knit, family‑style culture where employees collaborate on cutting‑edge technologies that support imaging, sensing, and defense applications. The environment is fast‑paced and dynamic, with frequent opportunities to learn new tools and technologies as new projects and priorities emerge. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tucson, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.69 - $37.50/hr.
