We design and manufacture advanced laser systems that improve clinical outcomes and patient comfort. Our team in Foothill Ranch is growing, and we're looking for detail-oriented, hands-on individuals to join our Handpiece Assembly team. Position Summary The Handpiece Assembler performs precision mechanical and bonding assembly of medical laser handpieces and related subassemblies. This role involves microscope work , adhesive bonding , and fine component handling in a controlled, clean manufacturing environment . You will contribute directly to the quality, safety, and performance of Biolase's world-class medical laser products. Key Responsibilities Assemble and bond optical, electrical, and mechanical components of medical laser handpieces according to engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions. Perform microscope-based precision assembly and adhesive bonding using UV-cured or epoxy materials. Handle and align optical fibers, lenses, and precision components using specialized tools and fixtures. Follow
ISO 13485 , FDA
, and internal quality procedures to ensure compliance and product reliability. Complete in-process inspections and functional tests on assemblies. Maintain detailed production documentation, traveler records, and work orders. Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify and resolve issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation in compliance with ESD and cleanroom protocols . Qualifications 3+ years of experience in precision assembly, bonding, or manufacturing (preferably in medical device , optics , or laser systems ). Experience working under a microscope and handling small parts with tweezers or precision tools. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) . Familiarity with adhesive bonding , epoxy application , or potting operations . Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and commitment to quality. Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience in medical device manufacturing (ISO 13485 environment) . Knowledge of optical assembly , laser components , or catheter/handheld instrument manufacturing . Basic electrical assembly or soldering experience a plus. Work Environment Cleanroom or controlled assembly environment. May require sitting at a microscope for extended periods.
