You'll translate preliminary designs into flight-ready hardware, orchestrate complex build sequences, and verify that every subsystem meets exacting spaceflight standards. What you will do (a day in the life) Interpret preliminary design drawings, sketches, blueprints, and schematics — plus verbal/written instructions — to select optimal build and lab methods. Assemble and integrate spacecraft systems to tight tolerances, choosing techniques that satisfy engineering specifications.
Operate specialized ground support equipment:
hydraulic and cooling system test consoles, alignment and installation fixtures, ovens, positioners, lift equipment, cranes, and precision alignment systems. Plan sequences of operations; install components prior to test; perform full system leak/pressure verifications and align control surfaces. Handle and install fragile multi‑layer insulation (MLI) and support SLI applications on test and flight articles per specification. Partner with engineers/research staff to improve procedures; run assigned test stations; capture/analyze test data and produce reports, charts, and graphs. Earn needed certifications; perform rework and incidental related duties with minimal supervision. Apply deep knowledge of materials/process specs and mechanical principles; mentor peers across related classifications. Support range operations, including tests, integration, and hardware moves. Use hand and power tools expertly; measure with calipers, micrometers, and DMMs; mix epoxies; and work with assembly tooling or composites.
Onsite requirement:
This role is 100% onsite. You will work at one of the listed location options. Basic qualifications High School Diploma or GED 4+ years of mechanical assembly experience for high‑reliability products Demonstrated skill building and terminating high‑quality wiring harnesses for racks/boxes Hands‑on with scalpels, scissors, hollow punches, and similar tools Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and harness wiring diagrams; navigate internal/external specs Proficient with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, DMM) Background with assembly tooling and/or composites fabrication/assembly Comfortable with a variety of hand and power tools Experience mixing epoxy materials Preferred qualifications 5+ years of integration experience 1+ year handling MLI/thermal blankets

J‑STD‑001 space, NASA.STD.8739.4 Meticulous attention to detail Strong communication and collaboration Cleanroom experience Ability to generate discrepancy reports in area of responsibility Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency Willingness to travel Active Security Clearance Security, export, and access This position must satisfy U.S. Export Control rules; a "US Person" per 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee). Millennium is a DDTC‑registered, ITAR‑compliant company operating at a special‑access facility. Applicants must be U.S. citizens eligible for a clearance and willing to obtain and maintain it. This role requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start is required.
