Role:

Flyby is scaling up its manufacturing to become a key player in the US Drone Industry. One of the pillars of that initiative is American-based battery assembly; We are looking for a talented and passionate full-time battery technician. This role will be based mainly in our Culver City headquarters and a satellite office in El Segundo/Culver City area. This role will primarily be responsible for assembling and QA testing batteries for the Flyby Robotics flagship F-11 drone platform. It will require extraordinary attention to detail, excellent communication, and a comfort level to work in a fast-paced environment where circumstances change regularly. The candidate we are looking for has ample experience in assembling production-ready batteries. They should be excited about the prospect of owning the battery assembly and working on a crucial part of the manufacturing. This role will require understanding how important micro-level assembly steps are to a macro-level vision of a low-volume battery production line.

Responsibilities:

Assemble battery cells, modules, and packs per engineering drawings and work instructions. Operate soldering irons, crimping tools, and automated fixtures. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and meet cycle time targets. Adhere to all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Use appropriate PPE and follow hazardous material handling procedures. Identify, tag, and escalate non-conforming product per established procedures. Report defects, process deviations, and improvement ideas to engineering and supervisors. Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Core Requirements:

Experience in production-oriented battery manufacturing and battery pack quality assurance processes. Strong communication and leadership skills, while being willing and able to accept correction and feedback. Experience in soldering and cable assembly, with a focus on wire-to-board soldering. Proficiency in using soldering irons, wire strippers, crimping tools, and other assembly equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as wiring diagrams and assembly instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident (Green Card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with lithium-ion or other battery chemistries. Knowledge of basic electrical testing (multimeter, formation equipment). Exposure to lean manufacturing or 5S practices. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, business, or applied science). 5+ years in a lead or production operations role. Flyby Robotics is an equal-opportunity employer.
