Job Description

Job Title:
Wire Harness Assembler Job Description The Wire Harness Assembler prototypes, assembles, and tests complex wire harnesses and related systems in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This role works with minimal supervision to interpret technical drawings, perform detailed mechanical and electrical assembly, support engineering development and testing, and drive continuous improvements in quality, efficiency, and safety. The position requires strong hands-on skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to lead by example while collaborating closely with supervisors and engineers. Responsibilities Prototype new wire harness assemblies and systems according to specifications with little to no supervision. Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to perform accurate and detailed assembly and touch-ups. Support engineering development by performing tasks related to prototype disassembly, rework, and testing. Assemble complex prototype systems, perform functional tests, and troubleshoot issues independently. Perform all non-machining functions of AMS, including wire preparation, pin crimping, cable harness assembly, welding, dip stripping, VPI, final assembly, testing, final bake, laser engraving, and packaging while maintaining high quality standards. Execute baking, curing, welding, laser engraving, and packaging processes in accordance with established quality requirements. Perform setups on manufacturing equipment to support production and prototyping activities. Maintain accurate documentation, production data, and logs, including tracking material usage and supporting inventory and logistics processes. Collaborate with supervisors and engineers to address assembly challenges, propose solutions, and refine processes. Identify and implement improvements in workflows, efficiency, and safety within the assembly area. Work effectively with minimal supervision while consistently meeting quality and productivity expectations. Lead by example to facilitate cross-training, share best practices, and help improve the skills of team members while continuing to develop personal skills. Act as an active, hands-on learner who continuously refines assembly techniques and adapts to new processes as they are developed. Support and adhere to quality system requirements, including documentation and process compliance. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Proficiency in using hand tools and performing mechanical assembly tasks. Experience with wire harness assembly, including wiring, soldering wires, and mechanical assembly. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics. Experience with record keeping and production/logging systems for tracking work and materials. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision. Proficiency in mechanical assembly, including use of standard assembly tools and equipment. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other formal quality system environments. Ability to perform functional testing and basic troubleshooting on assembled systems. Capability to perform equipment setups in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Intermediate to advanced assembly skills developed through at least 2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing setting. Experience working in a cleanroom or similarly controlled environment. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and team members. Proven ability to identify process improvements related to workflow, efficiency, and safety. Comfort working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for detailed assembly work. Willingness to learn new processes and technologies as they are introduced. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a cleanroom manufacturing environment that emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to defined processes. Work involves frequent use of hand tools and assembly equipment, including setups on manufacturing machinery, as well as processes such as baking, curing, welding, laser engraving, dip stripping, VPI, and final assembly and testing. The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to stand or sit for extended periods while performing fine, detailed assembly work. Hands and fingers are used frequently for precise tasks, and work is performed at benches or workstations designed for detailed mechanical and electrical assembly. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morgan Hill, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
