Job Description

Assembler - Poway - 3rd Shift Job Description The Assembler plays a key role in a highly organized assembly and warehouse environment, building power conversion systems through a structured, multi-stage process. This role focuses on mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, and inspection using detailed digital work instructions, hand and power tools, and standardized procedures to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient production. Responsibilities Assemble, modify, rework, and reassemble production components by following drawings, pick tickets, process documentation, and verbal instructions. Work across defined assembly stages, including pre-assembly of inverter structures, electrical wiring, predominantly mechanical assembly, and final mechanical touch-up and visual inspection. Use detailed blueprints and work instructions on an iPad to guide each step of the assembly process and ensure accuracy. Measure, cut, crimp, and prepare wiring using provided machinery and tools, ensuring correct lengths, terminations, and labeling where required. Assemble components and inspect parts at each stage to verify quality and conformance with specifications. Utilize a wide range of hand and power tools, including power screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, torque wrenches, rulers, soldering irons, heat guns, vises, crimpers, wire strippers, and other fabrication tools. Follow operating instructions and standard work procedures to complete each stage of assembly within expected timeframes, typically around eight hours per stage. Enter accurate data into the ERP system, including progress updates, quality alerts, and labor details. Observe and follow all safety standards, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintain a secure, safe, clean, and organized 5S work area. Promptly report any accidents, injuries, safety hazards, or emergencies to leadership. Actively work to prevent accidents and injuries by using tools and equipment correctly and following safety policies and procedures. Work independently after training, managing daily tasks and priorities to meet production goals and deadlines. Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments, such as the warehouse, which supplies daily kits for assembly. Maintain excellent attendance and reliability to support consistent production and contract completion. Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support overall production and operational needs. Essential Skills 0-1 years of experience in assembly, manufacturing, or a closely related, transferable field such as automotive service or similar hands-on mechanical work. Proven ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively, including drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, crimpers, and wire strippers. Mechanical aptitude and comfort performing physical, hands-on work similar to working on vehicles or equipment. Ability to read and follow work orders, drawings, and detailed work instructions, including those presented on digital devices such as an iPad. Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts, including wiring and crimping. Ability to stand for an entire shift and perform physical tasks such as crouching and kneeling as needed to complete assembly work. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring, cutting, and assembling components. Ability to understand, communicate, and follow written and verbal instructions clearly. Basic computer skills for accessing instructions and entering data into systems such as an ERP. Ability to work independently after training and also collaborate effectively with others. Reliable attendance and commitment to completing the contract period without attendance issues. Commitment to excellence, quality, and high standards in all work performed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior manufacturing or production experience is preferred. Experience with wiring, labeling, and reading wire schematics is a plus. Ability to identify colors accurately for wiring and labeling tasks. Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise assembly and wiring work. Ability to read mechanical drawings and solve basic math problems related to measurements and assembly. Versatility and flexibility to work within changing priorities and production needs. Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Organized and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to think through designs and assembly steps thoroughly. Experience in roles such as automotive technician or quick-service automotive environments is considered transferable and valuable. Why Work Here? You will join a growing operation that builds robust, utility-scale power conversion systems used in large commercial and industrial environments, offering meaningful, hands-on work with modern products. The workplace emphasizes thorough, structured training so you can build your skills and gain valuable manufacturing experience, even if you are early in your career. You will work in a clean, organized facility with a dedicated breakroom stocked with free coffee and snacks, supporting comfort and morale throughout the day. The environment values safety, quality, and continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to develop both mechanical and electrical skills with clear processes and tools provided. This contract role can help you build a strong foundation in assembly and may open doors for future long-term opportunities based on performance and business needs. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing facility in Poway with more than 100 employees and a structured assembly floor and warehouse operation. Work takes place in a clean, organized, and safety-focused environment that follows 5S principles, with clearly defined stages of assembly and a well-coordinated supply of daily kits from the warehouse. You will work primarily on the assembly floor using a variety of hand and power tools, with all tools and equipment provided and stored in an orderly manner. Detailed work instructions and blueprints are accessed via iPads, and machinery is available to assist with measuring, cutting, and crimping wire. The position is physically active, requiring standing for most of an eight-hour shift and regular crouching and kneeling to access components, similar to working on a vehicle. Steel-toed shoes are required as part of the safety-focused dress code, and additional PPE is provided and used as needed.
