- Job Description This role focuses on assembling, testing, cleaning, repairing, and preparing electronic modems for shipment through a structured, multi-step process.
You will work on your feet throughout the day, handle various assembly and refurbishment tasks, and ensure that each unit meets quality standards at every stage. The position offers cross-training across multiple process steps, giving you the opportunity to develop a broad range of technical and operational skills in a modern facility. Responsibilities + Perform a 12-step process on electronic modems, including receiving, testing, cleaning, repair, quality checks, kitting, packing, and shipping. + Receive incoming parts and units by accurately documenting what is received and ensuring each item is properly logged into the system. + Complete factory reset procedures by manually pressing designated buttons on units according to established guidelines. + Operate automatic test equipment by plugging in up to 32 units at a time, monitoring test cycles that may range from 60 to 90 minutes, and interpreting results to determine required repairs. + Conduct Wi-Fi tests to verify connectivity and performance, following standard operating procedures. + Perform elevated temperature tests to ensure units function correctly under specified environmental conditions. + Carry out cosmetic cleaning of units, ensuring they meet visual and cleanliness standards before moving to the next process step. + Perform cosmetic repairs on units, addressing minor physical defects to restore a like-new appearance. + Execute in-process quality control ( IPQC ) checks to verify that units meet quality standards at various stages of the process. + Assemble and prepare kits, ensuring all required components are included and properly organized. + Build pallets and pack out units into kits for shipment, ensuring secure packaging and accurate labeling. + Prepare finished products for shipment, including final checks, documentation, and staging for outbound logistics. + Scan parts and units at every step of the process to maintain accurate tracking and traceability. + Collaborate with team members and support a cooperative work environment to meet production and quality targets. + Adapt to cross-training in multiple process areas and rotate between tasks as business needs require. + Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure that each unit is processed correctly and meets quality expectations. + Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while using tools, test equipment, and RF scanners. + Support general labor activities as needed, including stocking, material handling, and organizing work areas. Essential Skills + Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate processing, documentation, and quality of each unit. + Comfort working on your feet for the entirety of the shift in a fast-paced production environment. + Ability to work effectively with others and contribute positively to a team-based setting. + Willingness to be cross-trained in various areas of the 12-step process and perform multiple types of tasks. + Hand dexterity for handling small parts, assembly tasks, and detailed repair or cleaning work. + Punctuality and reliability to support consistent production flow and team scheduling. + Experience or comfort with assembly, pick, pack, and general labor tasks. + Ability to perform basic quality inspection and follow established quality control procedures. + Capability to use RF scanners for tracking parts and units through each step of the process. + Basic computer skills to interact with test equipment, tracking systems, or related software. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in electronic assembly or refurbishment is beneficial. + Experience in repair, including working with repair parts and refurbishing equipment, is an advantage. + Familiarity with test equipment and procedures for electronic devices is helpful. + Exposure to soldering tasks is a plus. + Ability to read and follow blueprints or work instructions is beneficial. + Comfort using power tools in a production or assembly environment. + Experience in retail, stock, or warehouse environments can be an asset. + Previous involvement in quality inspection or in-process quality control ( IPQC ) is advantageous. Work Environment You will work in a brand-new facility in Elgin, IL, designed specifically for this operation, featuring a locker area and a cafeteria equipped with refrigerators and microwaves. The site is conveniently located approximately half a mile north of I-90, half a mile south of Route 72, right off Randall Road, and close to gas stations and restaurants. The role requires being on your feet for most of the day in a production environment that involves assembly, testing, cleaning, and packing of electronic modems. You will use test equipment, RF scanners, computers, power tools, and other general labor tools while following established safety and quality procedures. The facility supports a structured, process-driven workflow where parts are scanned at every step, and you will rotate across multiple stations as part of cross-training. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00
