Job Title:
Panel Technician Job Description This role focuses on building custom electrical panels and machines, performing electrical and electronic assemblies, and working from detailed blueprints and schematics. The technician assembles and lays out panels, troubleshoots electrical components and PLCs, and ensures high-quality, reliable builds for a variety of panel and machine applications. Responsibilities Build and assemble electrical panels and machine control panels according to project specifications. Perform panel layouts and assembly, including mounting and wiring components such as switches, circuit breakers, and PLCs. Interpret and work from electrical schematics and blueprints to complete custom panel building projects. Troubleshoot electrical panels, including wiring issues, switches, circuit breakers, and PLCs, to identify and resolve faults. Perform electrical and electronic assembly work, ensuring accurate wiring and secure connections. Verify that completed panels and assemblies meet quality standards and applicable codes and guidelines. Collaborate with team members to complete high-level assembly tasks and support machine building activities. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in the shop environment. Essential Skills Proficiency in interpreting and working from electrical blueprints and schematics. Hands-on experience in panel building and machine building. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing and resolving wiring and component issues. PLC troubleshooting experience, including identifying and correcting control-related problems. Experience with electrical assembly, including wiring, terminations, and component installation. At least 2 years of experience in a combination of panel or machine building and high-level assembly. Ability to read and understand technical documentation, including schematics and wiring diagrams. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable electrical assemblies. Additional Skills & Qualifications UL508 panel experience is preferred and considered a strong asset. Technical schooling in automation or robotics is a plus. Familiarity with PLC-based control systems and industrial automation equipment. Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to troubleshooting. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a shop environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a shop environment on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Work primarily involves hands-on panel and machine building, electrical assembly, and troubleshooting using tools, schematics, and blueprints at designated workstations and assembly areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ham Lake, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.92 - $38.40/hr.
