POSITION PROFILE
The Electro-Optical Assembler I is responsible for assembling, aligning, testing and configuring optical, electronic, mechanical components. Work is performed in accordance with released procedures, drawings, schematics and wiring tables.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality control of assembly and alignment processes Clean and assemble optical assemblies Calibrate laser Collimator systems Test assemblies and systems using testing software; download firmware Record test and build data into databases as assemblies are tested Assemble cables, plugs and wire harnesses Assemble circuit card assemblies and subassemblies Assemble major assemblies and subassemblies for various systems Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly and organized work area Responsible for safe handling of all solvents and epoxies Performs in process and final inspections of production products to assure conformance to quality standards, including serialization and packaging prior to shipment
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
High School Diploma or equivalent 1 to 5 years of electro mechanical assembly experience Understand the basic concepts of optics, electronics assembly, electrical assembly and mechanical assembly Ability to perform well and maintain production flow under noisy and disruptive situations Familiarity with the metric measuring system Excellent dexterity and good eyesight. Requires assembly of small components and fine adjustments to close tolerances. Measurements using both linear and digital vernier scales of calipers Working knowledge of color codes and capability to identify components Proficient with ESD safety requirements Experience with optics handling and cleaning Ability to follow established inspection procedures Must be able to read and understand mechanical and electronic drawings, diagrams and layouts Work independently and be reliable Read and interpret engineering specifications from text and drawings Use of measuring tools and handtools Read mechanical drawings and blueprints Use a variety of tools and precision measuring instruments Able to fit, align, calibrate and adjust parts and mechanical units to meet specifications and requirements Able to fit and bond parts and mechanical parts using adhesives to meet specifications and requirements Able to self-check and inspect work in process. Able to stand for 8 hours a day Requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanant Residence status
IDEALLY, YOU'LL ALSO HAVE
Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment Experience with 5S housekeeping practices Expereince in hand soldering Familiar with standard shop practices used in defense-related industries Experience performing complicated set-up and testing for incoming an in-process inspection of flat and spherical optics Experience in the handling and mounting of IR components into lens assemblies and systems Working knowledge of color code and capability to identify components Experience with IPC 610 workmanship standards Experience with
ISO-9000
series of standards or other similar standards Experience working in an ITAR environment
