Job Title:
Mechanical Assembler Job Description The Mechanical Assembler will build custom metal storage systems designed for emergency and service vehicles by assembling components from the welding and fabrication shop into finished products ready for shipment. This role involves hands-on mechanical assembly, light fabrication, and crating, using a wide range of hand and power tools to install decks, drawers, slides, and accessories according to specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities Assemble metal parts and components into complete extendable bed systems for vehicles using established work instructions and drawings. Install decks, drawers, slides, and various accessories into the final product to meet custom design requirements. Perform drilling, sawing of metal and wood, riveting, and light metal fabrication as part of the assembly process. Use a variety of hand tools and power tools, including panel saws, table saws, staple guns, drills, and other shop tools, in a safe and efficient manner. Measure and mark materials accurately using tape measures and basic math to ensure precise cuts, alignments, and fits. Inspect assembled units for quality, functionality, and correct installation before crating and preparing them for shipment. Crate and package completed products securely to prevent damage during transport. Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Collaborate with team members and fabrication staff to resolve assembly issues and ensure timely completion of orders. Lift, move, and position materials and finished assemblies weighing up to 75 pounds throughout the shift. Essential Skills Proven experience working with hand tools and power tools in a shop, production, or general labor environment. Ability to use tape measures accurately and apply basic math skills for measuring, cutting, and layout. Background in mechanical assembly, general production, or similar hands-on assembly work. Capability to perform tasks such as drilling, sawing metal and wood, riveting, and light metal fabrication. Comfort lifting and handling materials and products up to 75 pounds on a regular basis. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with your hands to complete detailed projects. Ability to follow instructions, read basic measurements, and complete tasks with attention to detail and quality. Willingness to work full-time hours with some overtime as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Automotive electrical experience is a plus. Press brake experience is a plus. Experience with welding, forklift operation, powder coating, or metal fabrication is a strong plus. Previous carpentry, assembly, or mechanical assembly experience is beneficial. Experience working in a welding or fabrication shop environment is advantageous. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a welding and fabrication shop environment that focuses on building custom metal products for vehicles. The workday typically runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with regular opportunities for overtime, resulting in approximately 45-50 hours per week. The position requires standing, moving, and working around fabrication equipment and assembly stations throughout the shift. Safety is a priority, and employees must wear composite-toe shoes and safety glasses at all times on the shop floor. The environment involves working with metal and wood materials, hand tools, and power tools such as panel saws, table saws, staple guns, and drills in a production-oriented setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $20.50/hr.
