Thermal Spray Operator Location:
Salina, KS 67401
Division:
Repair & Manufacturing Position Summary:
Are you mechanically inclined with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for precision work? Exline, Inc. is seeking a Thermal Spray Operator to join our team. In this hands-on role, you'll apply advanced metallized coatings to industrial components using a variety of thermal spray systems. You'll be part of a legacy of craftsmanship that dates back over 150 years, working in a safety-first environment with room to grow and advance.
What You'll Do:
  • Prepare, mask, and set up parts for coating processes
  • Operate manual and semi-automatic thermal spray systems (combustion powder, combustion wire, twin-wire arc)
  • Read and follow detailed work instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Accurately use micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools
  • Handle and stage parts using cranes, forklifts, and hoists
  • Load/unload components for cleaning, inspection, and coating
  • Begin training on plasma and HVOF systems and their maintenance
  • Inspect finished components to ensure coating integrity and dimensional accuracy
  • Maintain clean, organized workstations and properly store tools
  • Log job hours and task completion in the timekeeping system
  • Collaborate with teammates and mentor less experienced operators
  • Follow all safety procedures, including donning PPE such as respirators and hearing protection
What You'll Bring:
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Mechanical aptitude and a positive, team-oriented mindset
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and quality standards
  • Ability to wear and work in required PPE, including respirators
  • Solid math skills and attention to precision
  • Comfort working in an industrial, fast-paced environment
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6-12 months of relevant experience, or equivalent education/training
  • Experience with precision measurement tools and machine shop equipment preferred
Working Conditions:
  • Frequent exposure to mechanical parts, high heat, fumes, airborne particles, and caustic chemicals
  • Occasional work in extreme temperatures, wet/humid conditions, or high places
  • High-noise environment—PPE is provided and required
Physical Requirements:
  • Regular standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally (with assistance)
  • Ability to wear a half-face or full-face respirator (must be clean-shaven if required)
  • Visual requirements include depth perception, peripheral vision, and close focus
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$19.39 - $28.00 per hour
