Job Title:
Machine Assembler Job Description The Machine Assembler builds custom machines by accurately reading and interpreting engineering and assembly documentation, positioning and aligning parts, and assembling complete systems to ensure they operate safely and correctly. This role works with a variety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components in a clean, well-organized manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings, assembly drawings, blueprints, and schematics to build custom machines. Assemble, install, and align mechanical and electrical components and sub-assemblies according to specifications. Use hand tools, power tools, cranes, and specialized equipment to safely and efficiently assemble machines. Fabricate parts as needed using machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and saws. Perform basic electrical wiring and assembly as required for machine builds. Troubleshoot assembly issues and resolve problems by consulting with engineering and following documented procedures. Verify proper fit, function, and alignment of components and make adjustments as needed. Support welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical work as required for specific machine builds. Operate a forklift when needed to move materials and components safely within the shop. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all safety guidelines and use of PPE. Collaborate with team members and engineering staff to continuously improve assembly methods and product quality. Essential Skills Proven custom machine building experience. Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Ability to read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings, assembly drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly. Basic electrical knowledge, including working with wiring and electrical assemblies. Mechanical aptitude with hands-on assembly experience. Troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve assembly and fit-up issues. Ability to use cranes and specialized equipment safely during assembly operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Two-year technical degree is a plus. Experience with welding is preferred. Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics is preferred. Mechanical repair or mechanic experience is preferred. Forklift experience is preferred. Comfort working with machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and saws. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and shop personnel. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a clean, well-lit, and organized manufacturing facility with approximately 25 employees across the shop and office. You will work with hand tools, power tools, cranes, specialized assembly equipment, and machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and saws. The environment involves hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Personal protective equipment is provided and expected to be used in accordance with safety guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
