Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Shop Helper to join our manufacturing team. In this energetic role, you will support various shop operations, assist skilled technicians and operators, and contribute to the smooth flow of production processes. Your proactive attitude and mechanical aptitude will help ensure high-quality output and efficient workflow in a dynamic environment. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on skills in fabrication, machining, and assembly while working alongside experienced professionals. Responsibilities Support fabrication tasks involving sheet metal, tooling, hand tools, and welding to meet project specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure accurate assembly and machining. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and micrometer gauges for quality inspection and measurement verification. Handle material movement using forklifts and cranes safely while adhering to all safety protocols. Assist with basic math calculations related to measurements, tolerances, and production specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting the team in troubleshooting mechanical issues or tooling adjustments. Requirements Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly. Experience or certification in forklift operation; crane operation is a plus. Familiarity with CNC programming or CNC laser cutting is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential. Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately. Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools. Strong attention to detail for quality inspection using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to production tasks.
