Mechanical Assembler - IV Godfrey & Wing, LLC Milwaukee, WI Job Details Full-time $30 - $35 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Fabrication Customer communication TIG welding Forklift Organizational skills Manufacturing Hand tools Full Job Description Job Overview The Mechanical Assembler IV serves as a senior-level technician responsible for leading the mechanical assembly of complex industrial systems and equipment. This role requires deep technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to execute and oversee full system builds from start to finish. The Mechanical Assembler IV manages projects and teams as well as managing contractor teams on field installations. They ensure adherence to quality and safety standards and provide technical direction during in-house and field-based assembly work. Responsibilities Lead mechanical assembly operations on complex, custom-engineered equipment and systems Lead field installations, customer startups, and service centers, traveling up to 15% and supervising subcontractors as required (both mechanical and electrical) Provide guidance on scheduling, estimate times to build, and resource allocation Support development of standard practices and ensure they are followed Conduct final inspections and mechanical testing to validate system performance and aesthetic quality Perform advanced layout, fitting, welding (MIG/TIG), and mechanical integration Interpret and execute engineering drawings, mechanical schematics, and P&IDs Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues when able, understand when to elevate problems to build supervisor or engineering Collaborate with engineering, project management, and purchasing to communicate technical requirements and resource needs Maintain accurate build documentation and provide input for continuous improvement Enforce workplace safety practices and proper use of tools and equipment Mentor and train lower-level assemblers to develop their skillset Discipline team members that are not meeting performance expectations Qualifications Must be capable of serving as an agent of the company (meets with customers, comfortable in stressful situations, able to address issues without placing blame) Demonstrated years of mechanical assembly or fabrication experience in industrial or manufacturing environments Strong leadership and coordination abilities within a shop and field assembly settings Advanced understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and vacuum components Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, P&IDs, schematics, and layout techniques Expertise with multiple fabrication methods (welding, pipe fitting, and hand and power tools) and ability to inspect and validate subcontractor or other employee's skills Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills Strong verbal and written communication abilities Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, working in hot/cold environments, and carrying tools up/down ladders Ability to safely use forklift, scissors lift, and cranes Ability to conduct and supervise safe rigging practices, using a versa-lift, spreader bars, and other equipment Join us in delivering exceptional service through your expertise as an Electrician!
