Job Description

Grand Rapids Foam Technologies ( GRFT ), located in Grand Rapids, is currently recruiting a prototype technician for its fabricated foam facility. The Prototype Technician is responsible for the development of prototypes, assisting the Prototype and Development Manager, and adhering to customer deadlines while producing quality products by performing the following duties. Responsibilities
  • Work with machinery, including band saws, CNC saws, and other hand power tools to produce parts
  • Build, assemble, and modify prototypes based on engineering drawings, CAD models, or specifications.
  • Conduct functional and performance testing on prototypes
  • Assist in troubleshooting design issues during prototype development
  • Read and interpret manufacturing blueprints (GD&T)
  • Adhere to product timelines and high priority work
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Lock Out, and all other Safety requirements.
  • Consistently adhere to and support company policies, Work Instructions and/or other procedures, and ISO requirements.
  • Compliance with all local, state and federal requirements such as:
OSHA, MIOSHA, EEO, DOT
).
  • Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred Ability to work with and around machinery including CNC machines and bands saws Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to read manufacturing GD&T blueprints Previous exposure to CAD software is a plus Physical Requirements
  • Continuous (continuous = 67-100% of the time): o Standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, seeing, hearing, and repetitive hand motions
  • Frequent (frequent = 33-66% of the time): o Talking, stooping, crouching, bending at the waist and upper body

The noise level in the work environment is medium to loud and may require the use of hearing protection.
