SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Lead Fabricator is responsible for leading daily fabrication operations while actively participating in the fabrication, finishing, and quality inspection of natural and engineered stone products. This position serves as the technical lead within the fabrication department, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational goals are achieved. The Lead Fabricator provides training, guidance, and support to team members while promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead daily fabrication activities to ensure production schedules and customer commitments are met. Perform all Fabricator duties, including cutting, shaping, polishing, finishing, and inspecting stone products. Operate and troubleshoot bridge saws, CNC equipment, routers, polishers, grinders, and other fabrication machinery. Coordinate workflow and job prioritization to maximize productivity and efficiency. Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Fabricators and Fabricator Helpers. Monitor workmanship and ensure products meet company quality standards and customer specifications. Conduct final quality inspections prior to staging, shipment, or installation. Identify production issues, material defects, equipment concerns, and process inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions. Promote and enforce safe work practices, proper material handling procedures, and PPE requirements. Assist with inventory management, material utilization, and waste reduction efforts. Collaborate with Manufacturing Management, Scheduling, and Installation teams to ensure smooth workflow and communication. Assist with equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance activities, and troubleshooting production equipment. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3-5 years of stone fabrication, countertop manufacturing, or related manufacturing experience. Demonstrated leadership experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or production environment preferred. Advanced knowledge of natural stone, quartz, porcelain, and other surfacing materials. Proficiency operating bridge saws, CNC equipment, polishers, grinders, routers, and related fabrication tools. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, templates, blueprints, and production specifications. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship and quality. Ability to effectively train, coach, and develop team members. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to work safely around heavy equipment, machinery, and large stone materials. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Manufacturing and fabrication shop environment. Frequent exposure to dust, noise, water, and moving machinery. May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed footwear. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and material handling throughout the workday.
