Job Description
Shape the final finish that customers see and trust Picture your day: you suit up with PPE, review the job travelers, and move seamlessly from cleaning and masking to spraying, curing, and inspecting precision sheet metal parts. You collaborate with fabrication, assembly, and quality to keep production flowing, and you take pride in coatings that meet customer specs and AS9100 requirements—every time. What you'll do Prepare parts for success — Clean and degrease components, verify they're free of dents, scratches, and contamination, and mask per blueprints and customer requirements so protected areas remain uncoated. Apply the finish — Set up and operate powder coating equipment (spray guns, hoppers, booths). Lay down even coverage and correct film thickness while monitoring powder flow, spray patterns, and gun settings for uniformity. Cure with precision — Load and unload racks or conveyors, track oven temperatures and cycle times, and follow safety procedures around curing ovens. Verify quality — Inspect for coverage, adhesion, surface defects, and color consistency. Use appropriate gauges to check thickness as required. Rework when possible or escalate non-conformances to your supervisor. Keep production moving — Move coated and uncoated parts safely between prep, coating, and curing areas. Assist with careful racking/unracking and communicate delays or issues to maintain schedule adherence. Live safety and compliance — Wear required PPE (respirator, gloves, eye protection), follow all safety procedures for powders and ovens, and maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free workspace. Qualifications Education — High school diploma or GED required. Experience — 1+ year in powder coating or industrial painting preferred; experience in precision sheet metal or an AS9100-certified environment is a plus. Skills — Able to operate coating equipment, follow work instructions, and understand prep, masking, and curing processes. Detail-oriented with strong commitment to finish quality. Comfortable reading part labels, packing slips, and basic blueprints. Effective communicator and team player. Work environment & physical demands Finishing environment with exposure to powder coating materials, heat from curing ovens, and moving parts. Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Use of respirators or other PPE may be required during specific tasks. Schedule 1st —
