Metal Finisher/Finishing Technician Shift:
1st
Shift M-F Payrate:
$19.80-$23.00 Job Description The Metal Finisher prepares, polishes, and finishes stainless steel components to meet strict quality and customer specifications. This role ensures all fabricated parts achieve the required surface finish, appearance, and durability standards while maintaining safety, accuracy, and efficiency on the production floor. Responsibilities Perform finishing operations on stainless steel products, including grinding, sanding, polishing, buffing, and deburring. Operate hand and power tools such as grinders, polishers, belt sanders, and finishing machines safely and effectively. Inspect parts for defects, scratches, weld marks, or other imperfections and correct them as needed to meet quality standards. Apply appropriate finishing techniques to achieve desired surface finishes such as brushed, mirror, or matte. Clean and prepare metal surfaces prior to finishing or final inspection to ensure proper adhesion and appearance. Measure and verify that finished products meet specified dimensions, tolerances, and quality requirements. Maintain consistency in finishes across different product lines and production runs. Follow detailed work instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings to complete jobs accurately. Adhere to all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe tool handling. Maintain finishing equipment, perform basic upkeep, and ensure the work area remains clean, organized, and free of hazards. Collaborate with fabrication, welding, and quality teams to ensure a smooth production flow and resolve issues promptly. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience in metal finishing, preferably working with stainless steel or in the automotive field. Hands-on experience with grinding, sanding, polishing, buffing, and deburring metal components. Proficiency using hand and power tools such as grinders, polishers, belt sanders, and other finishing equipment. Familiarity with metal fabrication processes and finishing standards. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship. Capability to perform general production and general labor tasks in a manufacturing setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using polishing compounds and abrasives. Carpentry or fabrication that demonstrates strong hand-tool skills. Comfort working with a variety of hand tools and power tools in a production environment. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in fabrication, welding, and quality. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, DE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.80 - $23.00/hr.
