Job Description
About A marine manufacturing company is seeking a Marine Finishing Assistant responsible for supporting fiberglass lamination, gel coat repair, cosmetic finishing, detailing, polishing, and final presentation of vessels throughout the manufacturing process. This role is ideal for candidates with basic experience in fiberglass, detailing, automotive bodywork, or hands-on manufacturing environments who are looking to grow within the marine industry.
Location & Job Type Full-Time Monday-Friday Schedule:
6:45 AM - 3:15 PM Onsite role in a boat manufacturing facility Compensation & Benefits $14-20/hour Health, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Referral program Duties & Responsibilities Assist with laying fiberglass materials into molds according to production specifications and schedules Apply resin, reinforcement materials, and finishing products to fiberglass boat components Perform sanding, buffing, polishing, and cosmetic finishing of fiberglass and gel coat surfaces Assist with gel coat repairs including scratches, chips, and minor surface imperfections Support final cleaning and detailing of vessel interiors and exteriors prior to delivery Use hand tools, power tools, buffers, sanders, and detailing equipment safely and effectively Inspect completed work for cosmetic appearance, cleanliness, and overall quality standards Help clean and polish fiberglass, stainless steel, chrome, glass, upholstery, and hardware components Identify and report cosmetic defects, material concerns, or production issues to supervisors Follow production schedules, work instructions, quality standards, and workplace safety procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Collaborate with production and manufacturing teams to support daily operations and timelines Qualifications & Skills Basic experience in fiberglass work, detailing, automotive bodywork, manufacturing, construction, or related hands-on work preferred Willingness to learn fiberglass lamination, gel coat repair, polishing, and finishing techniques Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, buffers, sanders, and detailing equipment Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow quality standards Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Comfortable working around fiberglass dust, chemicals, humidity, noise, and varying temperatures Ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability Work Environment Manufacturing facility environment with exposure to fiberglass dust, chemicals, fumes, humidity, and varying temperatures Requires repetitive physical movement including standing, bending, lifting, and reaching throughout the workday Must follow all workplace safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Pay:
