Model Finisher Job Description The Model Finisher is primarily responsible for the safe cleaning and finishing of additive manufactured parts in accordance with procedures and customer specifications, while identifying any non-conformances in parts. Responsibilities Perform finishing processes for additive manufactured parts which may include hand finishing, part cleaning and counting, measuring, sanding, grit blasting, polishing, and build breakouts. Utilize tools such as calipers, sandpaper, tweezers, clippers, air guns, dremels, drills, and soldering rods. Use a computer workstation to review order and part information, and to enter related information regarding the order. Follow and complete all applicable checklists. Maintain a clean and safe work area and individual workspace; assist in general cleanliness and maintenance of the facility. Clean and assist in maintaining machinery/tools. Assist in the removal and disposal of contaminated materials. Work self-guidedly within the assigned area, with assignments possibly given by Lead or Production Manager. Identify non-conforming parts and collaborate with Leads, Quality Inspector, regarding issues with orders or part quality. Seek ways to improve work processes and individual performance. Follow processes to maintain appropriate inventory and supply levels. Adhere to all safety and quality policies and procedures, including use of required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed footwear, etc.). Essential Skills Proficiency with hand and power tools, including deburring, sanding, blasting, and finish work. Strong attention to detail and ability to focus on one task for extended periods. Excellent hand-eye coordination. Ability to work safely with sharp tools/objects such as hobby knives, utility knives, files, abrasives, and rotary tools. Ability to comprehend and follow printed and computer-screen instructions and directions. Strong communication skills. Proficiency in English for reading, writing, and speaking. Basic computer skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Manufacturing experience. Craft-oriented experience such as jewelry making or woodworking. Work Environment The work environment is climate-controlled, maintaining a cleanroom type setting. The position requires working Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with a focus on repetitive tasks like grit blasting plastic and metal materials. Safety equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed footwear is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Morrisville, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.25 - $19.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
