Job Description
Quality & Process Lead — Metal Fabrication & Powder Coating We are hiring a full-time Quality & Process Lead to help improve product quality across welding, grinding, surface prep, powder coating, assembly, and final inspection. This is a hands-on shop-floor role, not a desk-only QC position. The immediate priority is improving finish quality, especially grinding, weld cleanup, surface prep, powder coating consistency, and inspection throughout the production process. We are looking for someone practical, organized, and comfortable working directly with welders, grinders, powder coaters, assemblers, and management to build better standards and procedures. Responsibilities Inspect products throughout production, not only at final inspection. Create inspection points after welding, after grinding, before powder coating, after powder coating, and before packing. Help identify where finish defects are starting and trace problems back to welding, grinding, prep, powder coating, handling, or assembly. Work with welding and grinding teams to improve surface quality before parts reach powder coating. Help improve powder coating consistency, including coverage, buildup, orange peel, thin spots, racking marks, cure issues, and handling defects. Create clear checklists, photo standards, and written procedures for production and inspection. Train team members on quality standards and proper process steps. Help reduce rework, rejects, customer complaints, and inconsistent finish quality. Support general manufacturing improvement projects as needed. Requirements Experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, powder coating, finishing, welding, quality control, or a related shop-floor environment. Strong eye for cosmetic quality and surface finish. Ability to recognize defects in welds, grinding, prep, powder coating, and finished products. Hands-on problem solver who is comfortable working on the production floor. Able to communicate clearly with production employees and management. Organized enough to create checklists, procedures, inspection logs, and quality standards. Willing to train others and hold standards in a fair, practical way. Preferred Experience Powder coating, liquid paint, or metal finishing experience. Metal fabrication or welding inspection experience. Furniture, fixtures, architectural metal, appliance, automotive, or other appearance-critical manufacturing experience. Experience with root-cause analysis, corrective actions, 5S, Lean, or continuous improvement. What We Need We need someone who can help us improve quickly. The right person will not just reject bad parts at the end. They will help us catch problems earlier, create better standards, train the team, and improve the process so the finished product gets better and more consistent.
