Finisher - 1st Shift Job Description This role focuses on grinding, blending, polishing, and refinishing stainless steel components and welded assemblies to meet strict cosmetic and quality standards for medical-grade products. You will work primarily with stainless steel medical devices and related components, ensuring all visible surfaces meet required finish consistency and appearance standards while maintaining productivity and quality expectations. You will interpret prints, samples, or verbal instructions and complete finishing tasks independently in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Grind and blend TIG welds on stainless steel assemblies to achieve smooth, uniform surface finishes. Refinish and restore stainless steel surfaces to the required grain direction and cosmetic standards. Operate hand grinders, belt sanders, polishing tools, flap wheels, Scotch-Brite tools, and other finishing equipment safely and effectively. Remove scratches, weld discoloration, sharp edges, spatter, and fabrication imperfections from stainless steel components. Ensure all visible surfaces of stainless steel medical devices and components are free from weld discoloration, scratches, pits, sharp edges, and fabrication defects. Maintain consistent finish appearance and quality across all assigned parts and assemblies. Follow work instructions, prints, and verbal guidance to complete finishing tasks accurately and on time. Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements. Work independently and as part of a team to meet production, quality, and schedule expectations. Handle and move materials safely, including lifting components and assemblies as required. Essential Skills Previous experience grinding and finishing stainless steel (training is available for the right candidate). Experience working with cosmetic stainless-steel finishes is highly preferred. Ability to grind and blend TIG welds on stainless steel assemblies. Ability to refinish stainless steel surfaces to a specified grain direction and cosmetic standard. Ability to read and interpret basic fabrication drawings and work instructions. Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, including grinders, belt sanders, polishing tools, flap wheels, and Scotch-Brite tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods during the shift. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment. TIG weld blending and cosmetic finishing experience. Knowledge of directional grain finishing techniques. Familiarity with #4, brushed, and polished stainless finishes. Experience working with light gauge stainless steel assemblies. Additional Skills & Qualifications production or general labor within a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Hands-on experience with sanding, grinding, and polishing processes. Comfort working with medical-grade stainless steel components and assemblies. Willingness to learn and adapt to specific finishing standards and procedures. Why Work Here? The role requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working around powered equipment and fabrication tools. The work area emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with strict adherence to safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements. You will work both independently and alongside a team in a production environment that prioritizes consistent cosmetic finishes and high-quality output. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.50/hr.
