Job Description
Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department is seeking to hire 2 (two) Seasonal Agricultural Technicians . These positions will support maintenance on county-owned agricultural properties, wildfire mitigation, prairie dog control, and vegetation assessment and management. This is an hourly, non-benefited position that will work 40 hours per week, Monday
- Friday 8:00am
- 4:30pm; some earlier days of 6am
- 2:30pm may be required .

Assessment of fence conditions Minor fencing repairs Mowing/weed whipping vegetation Assist in vegetation assessments Assist in installation of soil moisture probes Assessment of ditch conditions with regards to vegetation, biomass, and fire mitigation Implement a variety of techniques for the removal of biomass from work sites Help develop relationships with ditch riders/companies/Ag tenants to educate/understand the mutual needs of the community with regards to wildfire mitigation Work in collaboration with Boulder County Sheriff's Office crew bosses for some projects involving jail crews Removal of prairie dogs from undesirable locations using live trapping methods and euthanization on-site with carbon monoxide machines Some prairie dogs will be humanely dispatched for use in predator (black-footed ferret and raptor) recovery programs Assessment of prairie dog colonies on properties Maintenance of vehicles, trailers, PERC machines, and OHVs, per County Policy guidelines May assist in placement of visual barriers and other deterrents to prairie dog movement Entry of fencing, vegetation, and ditch conditions into mobile asset management system Entry of work completed into mobile asset management system Performs related work, as required May be reassigned during emergency situationsPLEASE NOTE

Candidates for this position will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physicalPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
An aptitude and interest in agricultural production, agricultural ditch systems, and wildfire mitigation Experience in trapping wildlife Rangeland plant identification Ability to drive a trailer and/or operate heavy machinery Familiarity with GIS systems to input data into our asset management system Proficiency with the use of power tools, hand tools, wood chipper, and/or small engines (chainsaw, etc.) Previous fieldwork, especially with prairie dogs or other small mammals, computer skills, and knowledge of Open SpacesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
