Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Milk Quality Specialist will be an integral part of the Advanced Dairy Service team responsible for monitoring the condition of our customer's dairy systems and identifying, addressing, and resolving critical milk production and animal health issues. The Milk Quality Specialist position reports directly to the Service Manger - Maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years on-farm dairy experience - (required)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Exemplify our Core Values of Honesty , Integrity , Quality , and Professionalism in every aspect of the job.
  • Learn to become the expert on Milk Quality and share your knowledge of wash systems, udder health, pulsation and vacuum with the service and route teams.
  • Work with Service Managers to schedule service techs for washes or barn checks as problems arise.
  • Report observations, results and any problems to the appropriate dairy personnel, dairy general manager and your Service Manager.
  • File appropriate observations and reports electronically for future reference.
  • Monitor DFA accounts daily and send a weekly report to the Service Manager - Maintenance.
  • Stay in constant contact with dairy management and Service team concerning any issues until resolved.
  • Provide support and training to new team members as needed to accelerate understanding of dairy operations.
  • Monitor and test Footbath systems for efficacy and report findings at least once a month.
  • Monitor the company stock of wash kit refills.
  • Work with dairy staff to improve milking routine, somatic cell count, and udder health when requested.
  • Perform an annual parlor audit of milking procedures at each dairy to ensure good milking practices and upon Service Manager approval, email findings/results to the appropriate contacts at the dairies.
  • Perform parlor audits and washes at key accounts in CO and KS on a scheduled basis in addition to what the wash and pulsation techs do. This will support key accounts and provide an additional set of eyes.
  • This position will not need to check all pulsation and washes.
  • When appropriate, address problems that are found while on the dairy and bill for this time. If the problem is too big, will take too much time, or you don't have the appropriate parts or tools, report this to the Service Manager - Maintenance and get with him to make a plan for the repairs. You must also inform the Manager at the dairy.
  • Provide sales and support on special product lines, i.e. Footbath, Fly Spray, and Robotic Teat Dip Systems, etc.
  • On call generally 1 week out of 4 with Service Manager team.
  • Hours generally 7:30 to 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.
