We are looking for a detailed oriented Horticultural Technician who will manage the care of plants located in our client locations in and around the Tampa/ St. Petersburg area on a Monday-Friday (approx 7am-4pm) basis. Plant Partners, Inc - Tropex is a leader in the Interiorscape industry. We were founded more than 40 years ago to provide live plant maintenance, leasing, and sales to customers. We may be in the interior plant business as a product but our main focus is in providing outstanding customer service.
Job Functions:
Serving as the direct client contact, the Horticulture Technician is in charge of checking for moisture levels, watering, trimming, weeding, pruning of trees and plants, and application of mulch and fertilizers as needed to ensure excellent quality standards. Technicians inspect plants for damage, disease, soil erosion and location problems. The technician will need to identify plants, insects, pests and diseases as appropriate. Recommend and perform corrective actions such as removal of plants or remedial treatments. Our customers have mostly indoor and some have outdoor plants. Technicians will operate equipment such as water tanks, sprayers, shovels, hand tools and related interiorscape equipment as required. Technicians manage inventory by submitting plant replacement requisitions and tracking plant installations. Technicians are also responsible for keeping assigned equipment clean and in good working condition, perform routine vehicle maintenance checks. Technicians may also be occasionally asked to perform special services, installations, pulling plants from accounts, inventory reviews and collecting client checks as requested by a Customer Service Manager.
Qualifications:
Valid Florida Drivers License, Organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to drive vans and passenger vehicles (required 7 years clean driving record). Result oriented and able to work both independently and as a team member. Excellent customer service skills needed.
Preferred Experience/Skills :
Gardening or horticultural work, which involves plant maintenance, botany, agriculture or horticulture; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
