Food Service Technician

Role Overview:

The Cook plays a key role in daily food service operations by preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet menu standards, dietary guidelines, and safety regulations. This position contributes to overall care and satisfaction by delivering appealing meals to patients, staff, and visitors, while upholding a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and plate a variety of meals, including hot and cold items, based on established menus and schedules Comply with specialized diet requirements and modified meal plans as directed by dietary or clinical leadership Practice safe food preparation, storage, and sanitation techniques in accordance with regulatory standards Maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils Support inventory processes, including receiving, rotating, and replenishing food and supply items Safely use kitchen tools and equipment in daily operations Coordinate with kitchen and dietary staff to ensure timely and accurate meal service Communicate equipment concerns, safety issues, or inventory shortages to supervisors Adhere to infection prevention, safety procedures, and facility policies at all times

Required Qualifications:

Prior experience in food preparation, ideally within healthcare, institutional, or high-volume service settings Understanding of proper cooking methods, food safety guidelines, and sanitation practices Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes and instructions Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively Capable of working independently while also contributing as part of a team Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sarasota, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
