Job Description

Position Summary:
We are looking for a responsible and highly motivated worker to join the Insect Facility Team. In this role, you will contribute to innovative agricultural research focused on solving global food challenges through science and technology. This position will primarily assist with insect-based research using both plant- and diet-based systems, rearing insect colonies, and growing/maintaining various crops in a growth chamber setting while maintaining a professional, clean, and safe work environment and meeting all compliance standards. We are seeking candidates who take initiative, enjoy learning, work diligently, and have a stable work history.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Work with a team to execute insect- and plant-based experiments. Collect and curate high-quality data while meeting project deadlines. Assist with all aspects of insect colony management, including daily maintenance, diet preparation, egg collection, weekly production setup, insect staging, and sanitation. Work with plants and insects in greenhouse, growth chamber, and field environments. Ensure materials required for insect colony rearing and assay execution are prepared accurately and on schedule. Perform miscellaneous tasks such as cleaning, handling, packaging, and storing facility supplies, materials, and equipment. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Entomology, Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Physiology, or a related field preferred; or three or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety/ergonomic protocols. Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong self-motivation, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn and use internal research software. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a warm, humid growth chamber environment. JA01
