Job Description

The Seed Quality Lab Technician will work closely with the Seed Quality Lab Manager to perform tasks for the seed quality lab focusing on germination, purity and trait verification. Independently follow instructions to prepare lab test media, including but not limited to sand/soil mixing and sifting, tray preparation, and herbicide bioassay towel preparation. Independently follow instructions to complete germination, vigor, purity, and herbicide bioassay testing. Interpreting lab results from each test and recording each result. Data entry of test results into the lab data management system. Maintaining and cleaning of work areas Assist with other duties as required by the Seed Quality Lab Manager. Job Requirements 1.
Education and training:
Associates or Bachelor s degree in related fields and/or Seed Lab experience, preferred. High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck s automobile insurance policy 2.
Technical knowledge:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills Possesses a positive attitude. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and work as a team member. Possess a high-level attention to detail, organized, and be able to consistently deliver timely and accurate results. Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office and spreadsheets. 3.
Experience:
Experience in a seed testing lab is preferred, but not required. 4.
Physical Demands:
Be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
