Job Description

We are looking for a responsible and highly motivated Agronomy Specialist to join the Research and Development team in Wamego, Kansas. The specialist is an integral member of the multi-crop and cross-functional research center committed to supporting the development and testing of new traits, hybrids and varietal products in corn, soy and wheat.
What You'll Do:
Validate, operate and troubleshoot agricultural research equipment. This includes sprayers, tractors, planters, combines and forklifts. Effectively ensure general maintenance activities are conducted on a variety of agricultural equipment in a timely manner. Assist with weed management at our research locations, including spraying and fertilizing operations, ensuring optimal plant health and compliance with environmental regulations. Assist with research center activities, which may include experiment planning, location mapping, seed preparation, data collection and leading field crews. Collaborate with local and departmental staff to follow protocols for the timely collection of data. Be able to summarize results, noting any problem areas during data collection, and recommend actions to be taken. What Skills You Need:
Required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an agricultural or biological science, or 2-4 years of equivalent hands-on experience. Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of agricultural equipment safely (tractors, sprayers, planters, combines, forklifts). Working knowledge of agronomy, crop production, plant development, and/or weed management. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently — including initiating, executing, and troubleshooting field tasks without close supervision. Effective communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with a diverse team across local and departmental levels. Proficiency with standard software and willingness to learn internal data systems. Valid driver's license. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors for extended periods in varying conditions, including extended hours and occasional weekends or overnight stays during peak season. Preferred Experience with agricultural research equipment or small plot experimental design. Commercial pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain one).
